Article 29

Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank you! We had a fantastic response to our Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 29th September - raising a £649.44! Thank you to all those who made this possible—to those parents who donated so many cakes and to everyone who supported by attending the coffee morning or cake sale.  We appreciated your support and I know the money will be well used by Macmillan.  Thank you to Mr Baker and ‘singing club’ for providing the music and entertainment.

Singing Club

Well done to Mr Baker and Singing Club who sang in Morrisons on Friday 6th October 2023.  They raised £110 for Birmingham’s Children’s hospital – amazing!

Here is what Helen from Morrisons said:

Good afternoon, Mr Baker,

Thank you so much for bringing your fantastic school choir in last Friday! Brilliant as always … I’m pleased to tell you they raised just over £110.00, thank you!

I have attached a few photographs for you.

Thanks again.

Helen.

RRSA visit from Milking Bank Primary School

On Monday 9th October, our Rights Respecting Champions had the opportunity to work with RRSA children from Milking Bank.  Blanford Mere hosted a fun-filled afternoon of quizzes and learning about children's rights.  Children worked in teams to complete a quiz and then created quizzes themselves.  The questions comprised true or false, multiple choice and open-ended type ideas.  We will now use these to create an online RRSA family quiz for you to take part in at home.   Watch this space!

DPA and Year 5/6HO

Del from DPA, has worked with Year 5/6HO and created a song about children’s rights.  The children created the artwork.

Please click on the link below to hear the song and see the artwork.

Year One - Grandparents Day

On Friday 6th October, we shared a special 'show and tell' session with our Grandparents. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to their childhood memories and exploring the various items they bought from home. We would just like to say a very big thank you for all who gave up their time to visit us. We all had so much fun! Thank you for your continued support.

Parents evening -  Week beginning 16th October 2023

Thank you to those parents who attended Parents evening; it was great to have parents back in school and an opportunity for you to look at your child’s books.  After talking with your child’s class teacher, I’m sure that you are fully informed of your child’s progress over the past half term and are clear about their targets to help them progress further.  If you do have any concerns or comments regarding your child, please make a note in your child’s planner and staff will try to alleviate any concerns that you may have.  Staff will also use this as their communication with home – so please check regularly. If you did not make an appointment to talk with your child’s teacher – please make a note in your child’s planner and they will call you at a convenient time.  It is very important to us that home and school work together to support your child.

Year 5/6MB Class assembly

Thank you to Mr Baker and Yr 5/6MB for holding our first class assembly this term.  The children performed and sang for parents and their families about WW2 – the children were amazing, and we know that many parents enjoyed the performance! Well done.

Year 3/4DD Class assembly

Thank you to Mrs Davis/Mrs Dorricott and Yr 3/4DD for holding their class too.  The children performed and sang for parents and their families about the Victorians – they have learnt so much in such a short space of time!  Great performance.
